How much does a die cost, who owns it, and is it refunded after a certain volume?
A die typically costs about $100-$300 depending on section size and complexity. The die is made for your profile and kept at our factory for your orders. To make the first order easier, I refund the full die fee once you reach 5 tons of cumulative orders on that profile. I state the exact die cost and refund terms in the quotation before you pay anything, so there are no hidden charges.
Do you have existing dies close to my section so I can avoid a new tooling fee?
Yes — we hold a library of standard dies for common furniture sections. I always check it first before quoting a new tool, because if an existing die matches or nearly matches your section, you can skip the die fee entirely or pay only a small adjustment. Send me your drawing or a sample, and I will tell you within a day whether we can reuse a standard die or need to cut a new one.
How long does it take from die making to sampling and then mass production?
Die making takes about 7-10 days, then I run samples in about 15 days so you can check dimensions, finish, and fit. After you approve the sample, bulk production takes 31-45 days depending on quantity and finish. I send the sample with a dimensional report so your approval is based on measured data, which keeps the transition to mass production smooth and on schedule.
